In June 2008 the AAA celebrated its 25th anniversary with an open air gala at the distinguished and cosy ambience of the Bacchus Bar at Porches Pottery.
Around 100 members and friends gathered to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the AAA.
Past Presidents – Tony Beck, Arnold Clayman, Valerie Sayer and Bob Baden Powell were in attendance with family members. Chris Pollard took time out from his busy schedule to be with us having travelled from Madrid especially for the evening. Dr. Tiago Fraga a friend of the AAA and who is also one of our speakers was present, as was Dr. Pedro Barros who represented the Algarve office of IGESPAR (the organization that monitors archaeological work in Portugal).
Our President, Florian Fuhrmann, gave a warming speech to all assembled, giving a thumbnail sketch of the history of the AAA. All the members of committee were thanked by him for their work undertaken on behalf of the association.
